Caucana is a seaside village of Santa Croce Camerina and rises between Marina di Ragusa and Punta Secca. In the past, it was an important port, built under Byzantine domination. Today, the beach is a very popular tourist destination, especially for those who prefer quiet and unspoilt places for their holidays.
Caucana has very ancient origins! Its archaeological park still preserves the evidences of Greek domination. The center was then destroyed by the arrival of the Romans and, later, by the Arabs, who ruled much of the island in the 4th century AD.
Here, urbanization has not taken over! Caucana still remains an unspoilt beach that offers wonderful landscapes and a very suggestive atmosphere.
We are talking about over 2 kilometers of free beach, with very fine golden sand. The crystal clear sea makes this beach a truly heavenly place.
The best times to visit Caucana are spring and early autumn. Being a very popular tourist destination, in the middle of summer there is the risk of not being able to fully enjoy the landscape, due to the crowd on the beach.
However, there is a large parking lot along the whole village. For those who travel with their car, it will be easy to find a place, even better if you arrive on the beach early in the morning.
Of course, like all the towns of Ragusa and Sicily in general, even here you can satisfy your mouth with delicious delicacies.
Among the typical products of Caucana we recommend ricotta, a great protagonist of the Ricotta Festival and of the typical Iblean products which, for some years, has been held here in August.
To get to Caucana there are several options. The quickest one involves arriving by plane landing in Comiso from which the beach is only 29 km away. From Catania airport, however, there are 118 kms. However, taking Marina di Ragusa as a reference, it will be possible to get there easily from any major city.
On Sicilia Case Vacanze website it is also possible to book an apartment for couples, families or groups, in the most strategic points of the south-east of Sicily, in particular in Marina di Ragusa. From here, in fact, you can visit the entire southern coast of Sicily, which the whole world envies us!
